I was curious, so I ran some numbers on the free e-mail accounts people are using to sign up for the FeedLounge beta.
So far:
- Gmail: 44%
- Yahoo: 5%
- Hotmail: 2%
I was more than a little surprised to see Yahoo and Hotmail down so low.
This tells me that, at least among a certain segment of the web population, people will move to a tool they feel gives them a better user experience. We’re working extremely hard on the user experience for FeedLounge, so hopefully that bodes well for us. 🙂
This post is part of the project: FeedLounge. View the project timeline for more context on this post.
Could also be due to the fact that people who use an web mail service that acts like an application are more likely to sign up for a web based feed reading service that acts like an application.
Hence:
Did you could those of us that have our vanity email addresses forwarded to gmail?
That’s what I do. I want my own personal addy but the full funtionality of gmail.
Gmail has a much better interface than the latter 2, plus I”m not getting a lot of spam.
