  1. Uncovering DIPS →

Today, however, let’s concentrate on fielding independent (often known as “peripheral) statistics. What do a pitcher’s peripherals tell us about his batting average on balls in play? It turns out, a whole lot.

A little gem for the baseball statheads in the audience. I’ve subscribed to the author’s blog.

  2. Formatted READMEs

I’ve set up the README files for my WordPress plugins so they are formatted nicely now instead of the plain text representation that was there before. For the curious, before and after. In addition, the README links for each plugin on the plugins page will now show the README for the latest official release, even…

  3. DNS Change

  4. AJAX Archives (and AJAX Comments, Redux)

That rating data is valuable…

  6. Simple SQL Queries for Blog Stats

Nick asks how I got the stats I posted. Nothing special or fancy, I just ran a couple of simple SQL queries. I figured some of you might want to run them as well, so here they are: Total # of posts in 2006: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `wp_posts` WHERE post_date >= ‘2006-01-01’ AND post_date <…

  7. 2007 Goals

A few goals for 2007: Structure my work day a little better. More time coding and less time dealing with e-mail, etc. through better time management. Do a better job being on time (I’m normally ~5 minutes late). I plan to do this by trying to do a better job of stopping what I’m doing…
