I am excited to announce that WordPress HelpCenter is coming back! Look for it to reopen on March 14th under new management. Nathan Garza, who has been with me at both Crowd Favorite and WordPress HelpCenter is acquiring the business. He is someone I trust, has experience running a business, is intimately familiar with the…

What Happens to .ly Domains When Libya Shuts Down the Internet – “All this should serve as a cautionary tale for anyone obtaining a domain – in Libya or, frankly, elsewhere, as TLDs fall under government scrutiny and seizure, no matter the country.” I’m starting to think domains are broken, but handing everything over to…

I’m looking forward to both the event and a chance to head back home to Seattle.

My Internal Link Shortcode plugin has been updated to version 1.0.1, addressing a bug where text left in the search field could accidentally overwrite the post or page title on save. The Internal Link Shortcode plugin allows you to insert links that are references to posts and pages within your WordPress powered site. These links…

I’m also surprised that we haven’t heard more “iPhone on Verizon” numbers, and assume it’s because the numbers aren’t impressive enough yet. I agree that we will see a significant, gradual shift from Android to iPhone among Verizon customers but Android has reached the “good enough” point where people (myself included) don’t feel the need to run out and replace their Android handsets with iPhones. I’m sure that the iPhone 5 release will generate a big spike, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is much bigger on Verizon than AT&T.

Cartoon: Page-turner – my daughter loves books and loves tech toys. TweetDeck Acquired by Ubermedia: What Are the Implications for the Twitter Ecosystem? – This reminds me a little of when NewsGator gobbled up NetNewsWire, FeedDemon and others. A year ago the Clients from Hell website was all the rage with folks in the client services business. I enjoyed reading it. It was cathartic to see other people struggling with their clients as well, and many of them in much more absurd circumstances than the majority of us ever experience. I subscribed to…

I received a note from someone interesting in doing more with my iTunes Stats script. As a response, I committed the latest code to GitHub – forks are welcome. This post is part of the project: iTunes Stats. View the project timeline for more context on this post.

The primary purpose of an icon is to visually represent data to a user. Typically, this data will have a meaning such as “this needs attention” or “click here when you want to save”. Since the icon is supposed to represent a single thing, it’s rare to see something like this in a shipping product.…

YouTube – Lady Antebellum – How To Play “Need You Now” on Guitar – I think it’s awesome that they took the time to record this and make it available. The first 3 days on my new Verizon iPhone | Eric Chengs Journal – I’m resisting temptation and holding out for the iPhone 5. So…

My company, Crowd Favorite is hiring. We’re hiring 3-5 developers, right now. We’ve listed the available positions as: Web Developer, Experienced Web Developer, Developer Intership and Designer/Front-end Developer Internship. We list specific positions because it helps people identify positions they think they can fill, but in reality our hiring approach is really simple: we hire…

Marco.org – Speculation on the next MacBook Pro – I’ve had every generation of MacBook Air, all with SSDs. The performance has been nearly the same on all of them – all great. I can only assume that people talking about “slow” MacBook Airs had a non SSD one. Announcing the TechStars Network – very,…

Can’t wait for that iPhone 4 on Verizon? If you aren’t already a Verizon customer and don’t want to wait until Feb 10th, here’s what to do. Go sign up for a Verizon account today and purchase the cheapest phone they have, without a subsidy. Don’t use the cheap phone. Get online at 3AM US/Eastern…

I have to do basic arithmetic on a fairly regular basis. My tool of choice for the last few years has been LeanCalc. It does the job well for the most part, but it doesn’t ignore non 0-9 characters, I would commonly use it to calculate a percentage of a dollar value. I’d paste in…
