  1. tasks 1.7.1 released

I’ve released tasks 1.7.1. This is a minor bug fix release. The main changes are that the multi-byte encoding switching for Shift_JIS is working properly now (thanks Toshiro Yagi for the testing help) and a little code cleanup. The demo is updated as well. This post is part of the project: Tasks Pro™. View the…

  2. Database Abstraction using PEAR

jason hord sent me a patch to tasks that uses the PEAR database abstraction library instead of the direct MySQL calls. I’m looking forward to seeing how he fares using it with PostgreSQL. Assuming all goes well, I will be looking at moving to this in the 2.0 version of tasks. This post is part…

  3. What was Bobby Cox Thinking?

I saw the last few innings of the Giants-Braves game last night – what a weird, wild finish. The Giants won it in the bottom of the night on what I consider a very bad managing move by Bobby Cox. With one out, two straight singles put runners at the corners and brought Barry Bonds…

  4. KFOG Live From the Archives

KFOG puts out a Live From the Archives CD every year around Thanksgiving with the proceeds going to the Bay Area food banks. They do a limited run of the CDs, which always sell out quickly. Last year, I snoozed, I lost. Now that there is a viable digital distributor for music, will KFOG make…

  5. Safari Revisited

I’m trying Safari again as my default browser. So far my complaints are the same as they were last time I used it: Limited support for the Title attribute. My cursor aware JavaScript doesn’t work (is this possible in Safari?). Cannot tab to checkboxes and buttons. No Accesskey support. No type-ahead find. Camino isn’t perfect…

  6. tasks 1.7 Released!

I’ve released tasks version 1.7. This version includes a completed PDA friendly interface, a Spanish language file, an HTML toolbar (for bloggers), PHP iCalendar 0.9.3 and a number of other bug fixes and enhancements. I lost a couple of language files in this release because I didn’t have translations for the 10 new strings I…

  7. Around the web

Now this is pretty darn cool. I think I’m going to do it. Arghnold. The really funny part about this is TypePad is a paid service. Did someone actually pay to post this? I think John Robb may well be right with his analysis of Google AdSense. Aaron Gleeman takes Terence Moore to task over…

  8. Portfolio Updated

I updated some of the photos in the Portfolio section during the last week. I don’t feel that all of the shots I’ve got posted there are representative of my best work, so I’ll continue updating it as I have time. The shots with the copyright notice in the bottom right corner are recently added/edited.

  9. Moneyball

I finished reading Moneyball last weekend, it was a fun read. Overall, I think this book may be more enjoyable to people who don’t already know baseball from a stat-head perspective. I didn’t really learn anything new – the “revelations” about how Billy Beane runs the A’s were all pretty much known to me already.…

  10. Daily Notes

I played my first Jack Nicklaus designed course today. We played the Valley course from the white tees (the blues are 7000+ yards!). I wasn’t hitting the ball well at all, but I only had 29 putts (9 one-putts, 2 three-putts – love the new putter) so I ended up shooting a 90. It easily…

  11. WordPress Dev.

I’m officially a WordPress Contributing Developer. The guys are doing a very good job and I’m looking forward to helping out. New category: dev-WP/b2. I’ll be moving the previous related posts to this category over time. I checked in my cursor-aware HTML toolbar. Matt promptly cleaned it up for me (thanks) and it will be…
