  1. Idiot-proof iPod Battery

My new iPod battery has at least a 15 hour run time. How do I know? I’d used it for a few days, then I (accidentally) left it on for 12 hours1 last night and it was still running in the car this morning. Gotta love it. 😎 In ~30 degree weather no less. [up]

  2. ProFont

After wasting a half hour because I didn’t see that a comma was actually a period, I installed ProFont on my Mac and PC dev machines and set it as the default font in my text editors (though I may settle on Sheldon).

  3. Tasks Pro™ 1.5rc5 and Tasks 2.5rc5

Tasks Pro™ 1.5rc5 and Tasks 2.5rc5 are now available for download. I expect these to be the final release candidates before the actual releases. Please let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary in these releases. Here are the changes in both since rc4: Focus isn’t set in new URL field in…

  4. WordPress Plugins Checked In

I’ve added my plugins to the main repository. Something like this should work on Mac OS X as a little shell script to automate packaging them (SVN export, then zip): svn export http://svn.wp-plugins.org/plugin-name/trunk ./plugin-name zip -rq ./plugin-name.zip plugin-name

  5. Super Bowl Prediction

I don’t have any strong feeling about who wins this year’s Super Bowl – both teams are nice stories. I think the game will hinge on the Philly D stopping the NE offense. If the total score is under 30, I give the edge to Philly. If the total score is over 30, NE wins.…

  6. Around the web

CNN.com – Quit smoking or quit your job, company says – Jan 26, 2005 The Absolut Truth – Crazy Enough to Start a Blog – I’ve been mulling over the idea of getting an intern, more on this later. Boom Swagger Boom: Macalester College Making Firefox Default So you want to be a consultant…? Lowering…

  7. Covertec Treo 600 Case

After I got the Quarter-Moon bag, I started carrying my Treo in the bag instead of on my belt. I didn’t want it to get damaged, so I looked around for the first time at the various play-through cases available. I ended up buying the Covertec case. The good: The styling and fit (see below)…

  8. ASCII Art UI Controls

If you do web-based user interface design and keep all your development notes in Tasks Pro™, you may find yourself needing to put diagrams (something drawn on the board) into task notes. The first thing you’ll want to do is check the fixed-width font option so you can create your ASCII art. Next, you can…

  9. Styling G-mail with User CSS?

Has anyone tried to apply user CSS to the message display area in G-mail? I’d love to have a nice fixed-width font there. UPDATE: This works: #msgs div.msg div.mb { font-family: monaco; font-size: 10px; } Thanks to View Selection Source in Firefox to providing the proper selectors.

  10. Upgraded iPod Battery

I decided to go with the iPod battery upgrade for now and wait until they come out with something really cool (perhaps in the 5G iPod?) before I upgrade. Getting the case open was a bit of a hassle, but the actual swap was quite easy. It’s charging now.

  11. Overland Equipment Quarter-Moon Bag

I got an Overland Equipment Quarter Moon bag (olive/sage) for Christmas, and it’s proven to be the best gear bag I’ve had so far. It can happily hold my digital camera, iPod, GameBoy, Treo and keyboard, wallet, keys, gloves, sunglasses, etc. and still feel pretty compact. As an added bonus, the Dell 700m just fits…
